History
Our origins can be found in the 1956 Hungarian uprising, with the formation in 1957 of BCAR Housing Society to aid refugees from Hungary and Central Europe.
1973 saw the establishment of a sister organisation - BCAR Homes Ltd - to provide housing and support for refugees of every origin. In 1994 both organisations, together with the Housing Division of the British Refugee Council, merged to form Refugee Housing Association (RHA). In 1997, RHA joined Metropolitan Housing Partnership and in 2007, it changed its brand name to Refugee Support and formed Metropolitan Support Trust with Threshold Support, Walbrook Support and StepForward.
In May 2008, all services became known as Metropolitan Support Trust, with Refugee Support as the specialist refugee and asylum seeker service provider.
